Daughters of the King
St. Teresa of
Calcutta
Chapter
Instituted
On a beautiful, sunny day in early June - June 5th to be exact -
fourteen women dressed in blue and white came together at
Resurrection Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL and took the step
that would change their lives forever. After months of study
and reflection they received their crosses and took their vows,
beginning their new lives as Daughters of the King in the process,
a brand new chapter was instituted - St. Teresa of Calcutta!
Yes, during the Service of Admission the Saint Teresa of Calcutta
Chapter became official. As a result of the Service of
Admission, ten members of Resurrection (Cecelia Benton, Deborah
Butts, Trish Chandler, Norma Dorsett, Susan Grubbs, Sally Harter,
Feliza Koon, Heidi Manzone, Kitty Michaelson and Judy Petty) became
Daughters while four other Resurrection Daughters (Shauna Allen,
Ann Brackin, The Reverend Carrie English and Claudette Peck)
renewed their vows during the Service of Rededication. One
member, Frances Bridgers was admitted at a later date.
Included in the services was the installation of The Reverend
Carrie English as our Chaplain.
Daughters of the newly chartered chapter presented Rev. English
with a specially made chaplain's stole including among other
things, the Daughters of the King cross emblem. Joining the
ladies of Resurrection Episcopal Church were Daughters from various
chapters in Jacksonville. Presiding over the ceremony was
Diocesan Assembly President Gloria Zittrauer. The beautiful
and meaningful service ended with "Lift High the Cross" - a hymn of
particular importance to the Daughters of the King.
The members of this new chapter look forward to fulfilling the
purpose of The Order by dedicating themselves to serving God and
Resurrection Episcopal Church through their prayer and
service.
